GFCI Outlet Installation & Repair in Las Vegas & Henderson
A tripped or failed GFCI is one of the most common electrical problems in the home — and one of the most important to fix right. Penny Electric installs, replaces, and repairs GFCI outlets across Las Vegas and Henderson.
Here's when a GFCI needs professional attention.
A GFCI (ground-fault circuit interrupter) outlet shuts off power the instant it detects a ground fault, protecting you from shock in areas near water — kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoors. When a GFCI keeps tripping, won't reset, or has simply worn out, it needs to be diagnosed and repaired by a licensed electrician, not just reset and ignored.
This work is part of our complete electrical repair services for Las Vegas and Henderson — licensed electricians, upfront pricing, and code-compliant fixes.

GFCI Outlet FAQ
Why does my GFCI keep tripping?
A GFCI trips when it detects a ground fault — sometimes a genuine wiring or moisture problem, sometimes a worn-out GFCI itself. If it trips repeatedly or won't reset, it should be diagnosed by a licensed electrician rather than repeatedly reset.
Half my outlets stopped working — is it a GFCI?
Often, yes. Multiple outlets can be wired downstream of a single GFCI, so one tripped or failed GFCI can kill power to several outlets at once. It's one of the most common causes of a "dead outlet" call.
Where are GFCI outlets required?
Nevada code requires GFCI protection in areas near water — kitchens, bathrooms, garages, laundry, and outdoors. If those areas lack GFCI outlets, they should be added.
Can I replace a GFCI myself?
GFCI wiring has line/load orientation that, if reversed, leaves the outlet unprotected. Because it's a safety device, having a licensed electrician install or replace it ensures it actually protects the circuit.
How much does GFCI service cost?
It depends on whether it's a repair, replacement, or new installation, and how many outlets are involved. We provide a quote before any work begins.
